In past issues of PieceWork, the Trimmings department featured a collection of patterns, charts, and instructions that have been gleaned from old magazines and books that are no longer generally available. The patterns and instructions for these small needlework articles are worded exactly as they appeared in the original publication. Use them as they are or adapt them to other techniques—but do have fun with them!
Jane Moody submitted this charming holiday ornament from Tatting by Adeline Cordet, Book No. 5 (No. 515), published by Valley Supply, St. Louis, Missouri, 1916. She used a shuttle and size 30 thread.
Trim a tree or collect a colorful assortment of tatted ornaments in a window for a festive addition to your holiday decor.
