Imagine it’s the nineteenth century, and you've been invited to a ball. You must find a graceful outfit to match the atmosphere. You make your entrance—gown flowing around your feet as you float down the grand staircase leading to the ballroom. You’re wearing a pair of elegant tatted fingerless gloves as your hands glide delicately along the banister.
Slip on Stephanie Wilson's Elegant Vintage Fingerless Gloves to Tat, and you’ll be transported to another time. They are so intricately detailed, and their apparent delicacy makes them seem quite the precious object. Upon closer inspection, however, they are quite durable, as they are shuttle tatted with Handy Hands Lizbeth, 100% Egyptian cotton thread, size 40 in the Wedgewood Dark colorway.
The vintage appeal of the tatted fingerless gloves is authentic. Galina Khmeleva, a frequent PieceWork contributor and master Orenburg lace knitter, discovered a pair of tatted gloves in an antiques store on one of her frequent teaching trips. Galina shared her found vintage gloves with PieceWork so that we could have them recreated for the Elegant Vintage Fingerless Gloves to Tat eBook by tatting designer Stephanie Wilson.
The tatted-fingerless gloves are perfectly fitted to the gentle nuances of shape in the forearm from the hand to just below the elbow, and the traditional tatted wheel motifs on the gloves add elegance and a bit of magic to the gloves. The eBook contains both schematics and written instructions and is suitable for an advanced beginner.
