This year’s Twelve Months of On-the-Go Projects, created by members of our PieceWork team, is our way of thanking our All Access subscribers for being such valued members of our community. Each of the upcoming monthly patterns was designed to be quick, fun, and portable. The projects will encompass a variety of crafts, so that you can sample an array of different techniques year-round.
My flower gardens bring me great joy in the summertime. Perhaps it’s because they bring back fond memories of my childhood, when I’d spend lazy summer days in my grandma’s yard, playing among the peonies that lined her driveway and the many-colored rose bushes along her back fence. And I found joy in watching my mom and older sister tend to the dozens of flower varieties in the back yard at the home in which I grew up. I never could grasp how they remembered the names of each and every one.
My backyard gardens are the inspiration for this pretty pastel necklace, which is small enough that I can take it anywhere to stitch away on while I’m sitting in a waiting room or in a meeting. A few pretty jewelry components—a bezel, metal tag, and chain—turn a dainty embroidered piece into wearable art.
This feminine necklace is quick to stitch and easy to assemble, making it the perfect project to drop into your “go bag” as you’re headed out the door. Change up the colors to match the seasons, or make a handful as gifts for your loved ones.
