"Winter Light" because they're extremely light-weight as well as for their look of the bright red flowers against a snow-white background. The woolen-spun Shetland yarn, with its insulating loft, will help keep your legs warm on winter walks; the flower and vine motif will brighten your spirits during the long season of darkness.

Finished size: 12½ inches (31.7 cm), widest upper leg circumference; 8½ inches (21.6 cm) ankle circumference; 13 inches (33.0 cm) leg length Yarn: Jamieson's Ultra, 50% lamb's wool/50% Shetland wool yarn, laceweight, 212 yards (193.9 m)/25 gram (.88 oz) hank, 2 hanks of #108 Moorit (MC) and 1 hank each of #104 Natural White (CC1), #572 Lava (CC2), #802 Goblin (CC3), and #715 Atlantis (CC4) Needles: set of 4 or 5 double pointed and/or long Magic Loop needle size 00 (1.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge (optional size 0 (2.0 mm) or larger for the stranded knitting if your knitting is too tight in that section) Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle Gauge: 38 sts and 56 rnds = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in Stripe patt on smaller needles Originally Published: PieceWork January/February 2016
