I've always liked the Regency-era style: flowing high-waisted dresses, form-fitting yet drapey fabrics, sophisticated simplicity that transcends fashion fads. This chemise, designed in honor of my favorite Austen character, attempts to re-create all that in a knitted garment that will fit many people, look chic, and yet allude to Austen's era.
