Col. Fitzwilliam's Huswife Knitting Pattern Download

An on-the-go sewing kit, inspired by what a soldier such as Colonel Fitzwilliam would carry to mend his uniform while on campaign. Featuring a pair of pockets folded in half and tied closed carried needles, thread, and anything else he might need to keep himself neat. Knit this monogrammed huswife that has space to carry knitting notions. . Fair Isle stripes recall classic nineteenth-century textiles, when boiled (felted) wool was a common feature of soldier's uniforms. Finished Size: About 5" wide and 61/2" long, after felting.

Yarn: Rowan Fine Tweed (100% wool; 98 yd [90 m]/0.88 oz [25 g]):#378 litton (MC), #371 wensley (CC), 1 skein each.

Needles: Size 6 (4 mm): doublepointed needles (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle.

Gauge: 30 sts and 26 rows = 4" in charted patt, before felting.
