Knit this reticule as a nod to a time when embroidery was considered an important part of a young lady's education. Make a purse that re-creates the look and skill of an embroidered piece in a most delicate and useful manner, knit this in a fine gauge with a floral motif duplicate-stitched on top of a plain stockinette-stitch background. Finished Size: 10" circumference, 7" tall.

Yarn: Knit Picks Palette (100% Peruvian Highland wool; 231 yd [211 m]/13/4 oz [50 g]): #24559 oyster heather (MC), #24257 edamame (A, green), #26050 comfrey (B, dusty rose), #25999 ice lily (C, light pink), 1 skein each. Yarn distributed by Crafts Americana.

Needles: Size 1 (2.25 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); large-eye embroidery needle; 4" plastic embroidery hoop (optional); 7" &times 11" cotton fabric for lining; sewing needle; thread.

Gauge: 38 sts and 54 rnds = 4" in St st.
