Mimi Seyferth’s beautiful silk stockings will delight a bride.

Materials needed:

  • Treenway Silks Alirio, 100% Bombyx noil silk yarn, fingering weight, 490 yards (448.1 m)/100 gram (3.5 oz) skein, 2 skeins of Natural;

  • Needles, two circular size 0 (2.0 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

  • A medium-sized plastic straw or size 6 (4 mm) knitting needle for buttony

  • Tapestry needle

  • Stitch markers

  • Satin ribbon, two 36-inch (91.4-cm) lengths of 1⁄8 inch (3 mm)

  • Cable needle, to move sts from needle to needle, optional

Finished sizes: 8 (8½, 9½, 10½) inches (20.3 [21.6, 24.1, 26.7] cm) foot circumference; 13¾ (16, 19, 21) inches (34.9 [40.6, 48.3, 53.3] cm) thigh circumference; 8¼ (9½, 10¼, 11) inches (21.0 [24.1, 26.0, 27.9] cm) foot length, foot length is adjustable; sample stockings measure 8 inches (20.3 cm) in foot circumference and 21 inches (53.3 cm) long from top cuff to heel; length of stocking will vary depending on number of rnds knitted in thigh and calf sections

Gauge: 34 sts and 50 rnds = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in St st; 32 sts and 50 rnds = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in lace patt; 18-st rep from Tree Chart = 2¼ inches (5.7 cm) wide
