A Tam O'Shanter to Knit Pattern

You will be the talk of the town sporting this glorious tam. Two bands of stranded knitting, one around the headband and the other around the widest part of the tam, provide visual interest.

Finished Size: 17¾" circumference at brim and 10" tall.

Yarn: Rowan Felted Tweed (50% merino wool, 25% alpaca, 25% viscose; 191 yd [175 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): #151 bilberry (purple; MC), 2 balls; #152 watery (light blue; CC1) and #154 ginger (orange; CC2), 1 ball each.

Needles: Size 2½ (3 mm): 16" circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle; size D/3 (3.25 mm) crochet hook.

Gauge: 27 sts and 39 rnds = 4" in Brim chart.
