Strawberry-picking Shrug Needlework Patterns

This shrug is lacy and light enough for Emma to wear picking strawberries in the summer sun, yet cozy and proper enough to meet her father's satisfaction. This is a perfect project for the knitter who wishes to dip a needle into the exciting waters of knitted lace, as strawberry lace is worked on both sides of the fabric. The strawberry lace can be extended for a larger size or deeper shrug. The garter-stitch hems ensure no rolling and a clean edge. Finished Size: 121/4 (131/2, 141/2, 153/4, 163/4, 18, 191/4)" at center back (as well as around upper arm) and 19 (203/4, 223/4, 243/4, 263/4, 281/2, 301/2)" long from cuff to cuff. Shrug shown measures 19" from cuff to cuff. Sized for a close-fitting cap-sleeve effect.

Yarn: Malabrigo Lace (100% baby Merino wool; 470 yd [430 m]/13/4 oz [50 g]): #21 cactus flower, 1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2) skein(s).

Needles: Size 5 (3.75 mm): 24" circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle.

Gauge: 25 sts and 35 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Strawberry Lace patt.
