Alexis, the designer has seen almost every film version of Jane Austen's work. She hasn't always been thrilled with the adaptations, but what keeps her coming back over and over again are the clothes. To create a version of a sumptuous Regency gown that can be worn anywhere, she created a longline blouse. Finished Size: 32 (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44)" bust circumference. Blouse shown measures 32".

Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Sock (100% superwash Merino wool; 395 yd [361 m]/13/4 oz [50 g]): steam age, 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) skeins.

Needles: Yoke and sleeves—size 3 (3.25 mm): 16" and 24" circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn); Body—size 4 (3.5 mm) and 6 (4 mm): 24" cir. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 24 sts and 36 rows = 4" in St st on smallest needle; 18 sts and 29 rows = 4" in lace patt on largest needle.
