Samplers were popular methods of sharing patterns, teaching stitches, and passing knowledge down to future generations. Knitters would read the sampler to be able to recreate the pattern in their designs. This throw was inspired by a sampler from 1800 that currently resides in the Brooklyn Museum. It measures 3½ inches (8.9 centimeters) wide and 15 feet (4.6 meters) long and contains over 70 stitch blocks to study and recreate.

In this combined resource, you'll find the original published charts, written instructions, and everything you need to knit this blanket, all in one place.
