LoginSwaddle a special baby with this special christening blanket. Mimi Seyferth recreated the granny-square motif that Boer War veteran Jabez Ridgwell used on the christening blanket he made during rehabilitation, following the injuries he received in the war.
Materials Needed
Imperial Yarn Tracie Too, 100% wool yarn, sportweight, 395 yards [361.2 m]/113 gram (4.0 oz) skein, 5 skeins of Natural; Notes : Depending on gauge, a crocheter may need to use part of a sixth skein to complete the fringe as instructed. Five entire skeins were used for the sample project, including the fringe. Alternative instructions for a fringe that uses less yarn are included.
Crochet hooks, sizes F/5 (3.75 mm) and H/8 (5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Stitch markers, 50 removable (optional, for spacing fringe)
Tapestry needle
Finished size: 48 x 48 inches (121.9 x 121.9 cm), excluding fringe
Gauge: 4 dc clusters and 8 rows = 4 inches (10.2 cm) square in patt
