We have reproduced for you here the knitting material from the Thirty-Second Series (neither alterations nor corrections were made to the original published in 1896). The 21 patterns range from practical to ornate and include the sparkly Knitted Sequin Belt: “…belts always look bright on a dull dress….”; the fabulous Bassinette Rug with the word “Baby” in the center, several delightful purses; and the “not illustrated” and therefore very intriguing Knitted Fascinator.

Instructions might perplex a contemporary knitter accustomed to detailed charts and succinct directions, but the patterns are often ingenious, and many of the objects transcend the century-plus span of years since they were devised.
