This is a version of the little fish-shaped monederos (coin purses) made by knitters in the area around Puno, Peru, at the edge of Lake Titicaca, where fishing is an important economic activity. 

Finished size: 6 inches (17.1 cm) long and 3 inches (8.3 cm) wide Gauge: 7–8 sts = 1 inch (2.5 cm)
Yarn: J&P Coats Royale Fashion Crochet #3, 100% mercerized cotton thread, 150 yards (137 m)/ ball, 1 ball each of #65 Warm Teal and #12 Black DMC Metallic Embroidery Floss, 100% polyester 6-strand thread, 8.7 yards (8 m)/skein, 1 skein of #E3849 Jewel Effects Light Teal Green Needles: set of 5 double pointed, size 2 (3 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge (bamboo needles are recommended) Notions: Stitch marker or safety pins; stitch holders; Crochet hook, size B; Tapestry needle
