This project is based on the fragment from the collection of the Swiss textile historian Fritz Iklé (1877-1946). The fragment was too small to identify its original context; it could have been part of a small bag or a sock or the trim on something else. Wanting to make something practical, Karen Sullivan chose to make a small bag that might have been used to hold coins or other small objects.
