"The three pattern books, Haken [Crochet], Breien [Knitting], and Kunst-Breien [Art-Knitting] are part of the Nieuwe Serie Handwerkboeken [New Series of Craft Books] published (no dates were given) in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, by Gebr. Kluitman. All are softbound and measure 7¾ by 8 inches (19.7 by 20.3 cm). I don't speak Dutch, but I do speak knitting, and Dutch is close enough to German that I can identify some of the key knitting terms in the text. I hope that one day you'll be reading more about these books in these pages, but for now, enjoy this lace scarf, which combines two elegant patterns from Breien that fit together like hand in glove. I've added the crescent shaping to give the scarf a modern twist."
