What’s not to love about Schiaparelli's Shawl? Fun stripes? Check. Super-easy lace? Check. Speckled-but-not-too-speckled yarn? And check.

The Schiaparelli Shawl comprises everything I love about a shawl, both knitting it and wearing it. If you love patterns that are simple enough to knit while binge-watching Netflix, the easy garter stripes will be your best friend. There are a few short-rows to make you feel proficient, especially if you decide to replace the wrap-and-turn short-rows with another method. The mesh border may look complicated, but it’s mostly YO’s and K2tog’s and will barely take your attention away from the latest episode of Sugar Rush.

The yarn used—Madelinetosh Merino Light—is a long-time favorite, and I love how it embraces the speckle trend while never descending into clown-barf territory. Since the temperature in our office can range from swampy to sub-Arctic, this is a great layering piece over T-shirts, tank tops, and shells.

Take a look at the 2018 issue of Knitting Traditions for even more great patterns. And if you’re looking for a quick, pretty knit to wear in no time, cast on the Schiaparelli Shawl today!
