Originally stitched out of necessity, quilts have also been vibrant tapestries of memory, tribute, activism, or personal expression. Through a variety of techniques, quilts connect us across generations, borders, and beliefs.

Article and Project Ideas and Inspiration

The world of quilting is diverse, and we’re eager to showcase a range of stories and techniques, such as English paper piecing, Canadian World War II quilts, African magic squares, signature quilts, or quilts with family heritage. Plus, anything quilt-related—from a quilt-inspired knitted blanket to eighteenth-century quilted bloomers or a kkekki how-to.

For Winter 2026, we continue our tradition of featuring personal stories and well-researched articles. We invite contributions from experienced makers and authors, enthusiastic newcomers, and all who love textiles.

• Feature articles—tell us more about the history of a specific quilt, how a quilting tradition or technique began, or profiles of quilters and quilting champions.

• Historical and historically inspired projects, all made by hand—whether it’s paper pieced, appliquéd, knitted, trapunto, log cabin, or cathedral window, share your stitching talents.

• How-to articles—tell us how to do a historical needlework technique or share your favorite quilting tips and tricks.

We are also always looking for content for our website. If you have an idea for a short piece, about 300 to 500 words, please submit your proposal to us.
